The city of The Hauge is working towards an inclusive playground environment. The Hauge wants to ensure that everybody can enjoy a great experience with their children by introducing inclusive playgrounds all over the city, providing the inhabitants of The Hauge more opportunities to enjoy their free time with their family and friends.
Leidschenveen-Ypenburg is one of these inclusive playgrounds, with the Yalp Sona Interactive dance and play arch as a centerpiece. With Lappset playground equipment installed in this playground which has been designed to consider the needs of children with special needs. The Yalp Sona Interactive dance and play arch is the second in the Yalp Interactive playset to be powered by the Sun using the Yalp Solar post. This playground was realized with the help of residents and children in the neighborhood and especially several partners. In particular the Youth Council Ypenburg (Wijkz – Youth Work Ypenburg), Foundation Voorall and Yalp | Sport- en Speeltoestellen.
The playground aims to give children an enjoyable play environment where they can interact. It also offers something for adults who want to exercise or play sports at their own ability level.
The Yalp Sona as a centerpiece for the inclusive playground
Yalp Sona Interactive dance and play arch can be used by children of all abilities, ages, and backgrounds. It is designed to allow children to explore rhythm and movement in a way that promotes personal expression, physical health, cognitive development, social interaction, and emotional well-being.
We naturally want children to play together. And the Sona where I’m standing now is an interactive playset and what you see is we are taking more steps in inclusive play that is for children with or without disabilities here at Katschiplaan. Young people often sit inside the house gaming or watching screens, and most times, they are often alone. We always want to promote more playing and exercise together.

This is the first Sona in Leidschenveen-Ypenburg. Before this, in The Hague, we already have the Sutu and the Fono. and I hope this Sona is going to pay off as well; the playability is already great right now.
